From the "Really?" files...

Hey guys,
In an interview yesterday, embattled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi continued to claim that all is well in Libya and that his people love him.  Recently he claimed that the actions taken by protestors were the results of a joint effort by the United States and al-Qaeda to poison Libya’s water supply.  He says that agents from the U.S. working with members of al-Qaeda put hallucinogens in the water causing the youth of Libya to revolt...really?  … talk about out of touch with reality.  (for those of you who may have forgotten, al-Qaeda Osama bin Laden’s organization who attacked the U.S. on 9-11.)  I didn’t know we had patched things up…..lol.
Yesterday Iran said it would boycott the 2012 Olympic Games in London because the logo for the London games is offensive to Muslims.  Iran claims that the logo resembles the word “Zion”, a term for the historic homeland for Jews...really?   Iran and other Muslim countries do not recognize Israel and refer to it as the “Zionist Enemy.”
Olympic officials said the logo, which reads “2012”, resembles 2012...
I’ll agree the design is ugly… but I’m finding it hard to believe the Olympic Committee made the sign as part of a pro-Zionist or pro-Israeli international plot...
What do you think?

  1. Gadhafi is a raving lunatic. End of story. Even if the impossible happened and the U.S. and al-Qaeda worked together just to bring down Libya, it wouldn't be practical to contaminate the water supply. Unless the water supply was just from a few lakes, it would be virtually impossible to do so. I think that Gadhafi's the one who's been taking the hallucinogens.

And Iran needs to chill out. Why is everyone seeing conspiracies? Earth to Iran: the London Olympics sign does not resemble a Jewish symbol in order to offend you, and just you. It makes it seem like Iran's just looking for an excuse to get out of the Olympics, and this is their way of doing it while still saving face. They probably know darn well that the religion card is the only one that would work, because no one can argue with it.

  2. I find difficulty in attempting to support the validity of this argument. I mean, seriously? The Olympic Games are trying to take sides in the Pro-Israeli Plot to control the world? I honestly can't say I have heard anything more ridiculous than that. This seems more like a desperate cry for attention from the Muslim countries. The camera lens is off of their religious conflict for one second, because of revolts in northern Africa, and they immediately make a ludicrous claim such as this one. I am honestly shocked by this.

As far as the logo goes, that is simply laughable. Sure, the design is rather odd, but I doubt it is trying to allude to any sort of Pro-Zionist feelings the Olympic Committee may have. It clearly says 2012. I could look at it and come up with some sort of offensive signal, too. I could say "Oh, those lines are there to show love for Italians. They love zig-zag lines! I like that Britain is supporting the Italians." Their claims do not make sense. As I look at the logo, I can only see the word "Zion" very, very faintly. I suppose it all boils down to the concept that you can stare at anything, and see just about anything you like.

A note on the Libya water poisoning: I have always been interested in conspiracy theories, but only reputable ones catch my eye (the JFK assassination being one of my favorites). I look at the evidence supporting the theory here, and there is virtually none. Here is an idea, though, Gadhafi: Maybe, just maybe, your people do not like you. I know, it is unthinkable, but there is a far greater chance of someone hating you, then their water supply being poisoned by the United States and Al-Qaeda. Good try, but it won't save you this late in the revolution. Absolute balderdash.

  3. Hallucinogens, probably something that'd be illegal in the U.S., 'Cause that totally makes sense. This guy needs either Rehab, or a reality check.. Yes, lets team up with the people who potentially caused the most devastating terrorist attack. Real smart.

  5. The Olympics are meant to bring the world together in friendly competition... not offend religious groups. I think the people of Iran need to pull the sticks from their butts and actually see the logo for what it is meant to be. If they feel that they cannot, maybe the people who created it should also maybe compromise. It could be like during the World Cup where Nigeria didn't fit on the scoreboard and came off as offending.
Also, Moammar Gadhafiis crazy and clearly his protestors know it.

  6. This is just ridiculous and I don't even take it serious because it's like a joke. Im pretty sure other countires have better things to do than to offend or mock Muslim countries.

  7. Gadhafi needs to step down from power. Obviously if he is not sane he is incapable of running a country. It is ridiculous for him to claim that the United States and al Qaeda are working together to poison Libya's water supply. Before blaming the United States for affiliating with al Qaeda, Gadahafi should of thought of the 9/11 attacks. Maybe then he would have realized that is was highly unlikely we would do anything with al Qaeda. If Gadhafi has to yell out random accusation against the United States for him to feel his position is secure, he needs to leave office.

Also Iran needs to step back and realize that the Olympics aren’t doing anything for or against Muslims. The Olympics are neutral. During the Olympics, different countries are supposed to come together peacefully to compete. When planning the Olympic symbol, the coordinators didn’t all plan for the symbol to look like “Zion”.
