New threats...

Hey guys,

This past weekend saw two potential “would be” terror incidents in the skies over the U.S.  On Sunday Rageh Al-Murisis, a 28 year old from Yemen, charged the cockpit door of an American Airlines flight traveling from Chicago to San Francisco.

According to reports, about twenty minutes before the plane was to land, al-Murisis tried to open the cockpit door by ramming his shoulder into it.  He was quickly subdued by flight attendants and passengers.

Also on Sunday, on a Continental flight from Houston to Chicago, Reynel Alcaide tried to open the emergency door mid-flight.   He too was taken down by passengers and the flight was diverted to St. Louis where it landed safely.

Investigators are looking into possible links between the two cases.

This morning information was released that the leader of al-Qaida’s Yemeni offshoot has warned the United States that the death of bin Laden does not signal the end of the fight, and that even worse attacks will be carried out in the future.

The leader, Nasser al-Wahishi, who was once a close friend of bin Laden, posted a eulogy and the warning on Islamic extremist websites on Tuesday.  Al-Wahishi claims that “Jihad is growing brighter…”

What do you think?

  1. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Just because Bin Laden is dead, doesn't mean the struggle is over. Still the decision to kill him was better than having him alive. One of the real problems though is US airport security. They are so uptight and strict yet we hear of at least one attempted hi-jacking a year. I still have faith in our government though. I am confident that we'll be protected. I hope I am right.

  2. I think it was pretty much common sense that the fight wasn't going to be over, and hearing news of these airline threats doesn't surprise me at all. The death of Bin Laden wasn't going to stop the fight, if anything it would increase it. Due to the fact that the Americans have killed their leader, it only gives the group more fire and desire to retaliate.

  3. I think that there should deffinitely be more security at the airports now or in the planes. I think there should be a least one police officer in the plane with a loaded weapon watching over the plane. It would be more safe for our country and also more safe for the people in the plane. If i was in a plane I would deffinitely feel more comfotable with a police officer in the plane. I can deffinitely see more terrorist attacks now but they wouldn't be planned out or well organized. It would just be one single person trying to do something quick, not a planned out thing that took years like 9/11.
